Chain Ladder

At the park, there was this chain ladder at the playground that was blowing in the wind. The recordings didn't register that well, so I got on the chain myself, and started climbing it, and rattling it back and forth. There was a birthday party going on, but they were on the other side of the gargantuan playground.

Back and Forth, Back and Forth

At the playground at the park, there was a birthday party going on. I sat down at the table and started recording. Besides many weary mothers giving me dirty looks, the kids kept swinging mindless of their surroundings. I took this picture a day later when the party finished, so I wouldn't seem like the "creepy guy at the park."

Symphony of Water

I found this awesome bridge on my walk and decided to go underneath it, climbing down an embankment. I heard awesome beats created from the dripping water from the day's previous storm on pebbles and pieces of glass.

Wings of Thunder

In the park, there was a bird feeder with numerous chipmunks and Chickadees. I decided to put the recorder on the feeder and see what the birds did. At first they were hesitant with this foreign object, but later accepted it in pursuit of some food. Note, that the clicking noise in the clip is not the mic moving, but the birds landing and taking off from the feeder perch.

Tennis Anyone?

While walking through the park, I stumbled onto these two guys playing tennis. Well, I should say one was teaching the other how to play tennis. I sat myself down by the fence, put mics and recorder on the ground, and made it look like I was texting, so they wouldn't know I was recording them.

Drift One Strategy

In order to experience the subtleties and uniqueness of sound, I plan to use the simple drift strategy of turning Left, Right, Left, Right, etc. If I hit an alley before I get to the next intersection, down that alley I go. If I hit a dead end, I will turn 180 degrees and start all over again. What I hope to get from this drift is the sensation and awakening of (excuse the overused phrase) finding something new in my backyard. This blog will show my progress and findings in the city of Milwaukee.
